Brief History of The Chinese Apostolate
It was in 1972, a group of young women and men with the encouragement of Fr. Cheung, a Salesian priest from Hong Kong, formed the Chinese Salesian Youth Fellowship, 中華慈幼青年團. The years of 1972 to 1980 were the Salesian Chinese Apostolate at its infancy.
Twenty-five years later, we were a more mature and vibrant organization. The more encompassing Chinese Apostolate, 華入牧民中心, was founded. A younger generation of youths had joined our community and become our youth fellows. The original Youth Fellowship had evolved into the Home Fellowship of young families. The Salesian Cooperators and St. Agnes Club were founded to provide faith and involvement for the old and the young. The Chinese Apostolate formed its own Choir, Alter Servers and Liturgy Group to serve the Chinese Mass. In 2017, the Chinese Apostolate was reorganized to reflect the demographic change in our community. The faith and exceptional spirit of every member has enriched not only the Chinese Community but also the Salesian Family at Saints Peter & Paul.
In September of 2022, we celebrated our 50th Anniversary.
